It was in the year 2008, March I held my first solo exhibition, which was a very heartening experience for a young artist like me. Spectators found a vast difference in the style of my painting in my first show as compared to my earlier portfolio works, as I chose to display Abstract works and the subject was Spiritual.
Painting Abstract magnetizes me a lot; it encompasses “The Formless”. As I feel Abstract is formless. Everything has a form. Happiness has a form, sadness has a form, “The Formless” is something very pure truthful, and Godly. Only Formless can embody Purity and Spirituality. I have been reading eastern philosophy since three years, which comprises Osho, Zen books, The Bhagwad gita and it has helped me tremendously in developing my artistic sense. Observing works of the Renaissance artists and also the Baroque and Rocco period masters works have helped me develop my perfection in anything I paint. And primarily the 20th century artist Jackson Pollock’s characteristic large scale artworks have inspired me to the core.
I mostly paint in acrylic and oil medium, I often use the palate knife and rollers to attain the spontaneous textures and strokes. Spontaneity is the pivotal factor when I am in accord with my art, as it helps me to signify my inner-self onto the canvas, which I always try to attain in the form of colors.
“Art connects me to the divine. It’s a creation, just as an almighty creating a living-entity.”
“I feel every piece of art breathes, because an artist puts life into it.” |
